Ingredients:
- 10 sheets puff pastry GF if necessary
- 5-6 spuds grated
- 2 big carrots grated
- 1 turnip grated
- 1 pasnip grated
- 2 celery sticks finely chopped
- 1 onion grated
- 800-1000 gms mince meat
- 1 TBsp each salt and pepper
- Milk for glazing
Instructions:
- Grease baking trays and set aside.
- Heat oven to 180C.
- Mix all ingredients except the pastry, in large pot with your hands. You can use a grinder if you have one to grind the vegetables.
- Lay out one sheet of defrosted puff pastry on work surface and place 2 1/2 handfuls off centre of the mixture, then fold over pastry so edges are touching and the mixture is covered over.
- Cut off excess triangle of pastry.
- Fold over edges and press firmly down with fingers.
- Place on baking trays and paint with some milk.
- Continue until you use up all the mixed ingredients up.
- Cook at 180C (you may have to adjust to your stove) for 1 hour or until golden brown.
- Turn the trays around several times while cooking, to ensure all sides are browned. Cook for an hour and remove when golden brown.
- You can use the extra piece of pastry and cook after the pasties have finished. to make dessert. Paint pastry pieces, with a little milk and cook until golden. Serve cut in half with jam and whipped cream.
